Macari’s primary artistic concern involves questions of value and commodification.  The artist examines questions of value by directly linking an ‘objet d’art’ with a human organ, drawing a parallel between illegal organ market and art market:

In the era of the consumer, everything has a price. Works of contemporary art in a typical Western gallery cost an average of 2000-3000€.  The same amount is also the price of an illegally purchased kidney from Moldova Republic.

The artwork inherently analyzes and plays with regional cultural characteristics of the conflict between the pricing mechanism and the real price of an item.

Macari also advertises her kidney, which can be purchased as a work of art.

The installation centrum is a home-engraved roentgen photo of artist’s kidney with two author’s songs recorded on it:

Side 1: “Wish for a better life” (russian language)

Side 2: “Money Ode” (romanian language)
